Bay Area Network of Nonprofit Human Service Agencies (BANNHSA)

BANNHSA is a group of executive directors of Bay Area family and children's agencies launched in 2006 as a think tank formed in collaboration with the newly endowed Mack Center on Nonprofit Management in the Human Services. Located in the School of Social Welfare at the University of California, Berkeley, BANNHSA was founded with the support of the Bay Area Social Services Consortium (BASSC) and a seed grant from the VanLobenSels/RembeRock Foundation of San Francisco,. It meets quarterly and focuses on three key areas:

  1. Policy Development and Implementation (promoting effective public-nonprofit partnerships, financing, and accountability)
  2. Management Leadership Development (developing a training program for middle-managers based on Organizational Development principles of peer learning and support)
  3. Field-based Research (examining and conducting research related to managing nonprofits by utilizing the Mack Center and graduate research assistants)
