The Role of Voluntary Organizations in Population Control: A Conceptual Framework

Abstract

On the premise that population control ultimately must depend on the individual's voluntary action regarding demographic behavior, especially reproduction, explored are the actual & potential roles of various voluntary organizations in the effort to control population as an integral part of societal development. Citing examples from Asia, a conceptual paradigm is presented detailing the action targets, action roles, & action media of voluntary organizations in this area. Factors affecting such voluntary organizations' efforts are examined in terms of the macrostructural context of the larger society & internal organizational variables. A scheme for program evaluation is also introduced from other sources. 1 Figure. HA.
