Challenging Human Service Organizations to Redefine Volunteer Roles

Abstract

The increasing fiscal constraints in human service organizations (HSOs) require social work administrators to seek expansion of their human resources through strategic planning that includes creative & timely use of volunteers. Here, new approaches in working with volunteers, both in the expansion of the volunteer pool as well as in its utilization, are suggested, based on results of questionnaires completed by 470 volunteers in 105 HSOs. 2 Tables, 38 References.
