Interorganizational Relationships in Three Communities: Implications for Community Development

Abstract

Some of the correlates of organizational interdependence for voluntary organizations in three communities are explored, with focus on participation in joint programs for the community, scope of cooperation, & scope of conflict with other voluntary organizations. Propositions presented address innovation in organizations, development of interdependencies, comparative properties, & dyadic interactions. The possible moderating role of the community environment on interdependencies is also discussed, & related to the three communities analyzed. Implications for community development are delineated. 2 Tables, 1 Figure. Modified HA.
