Developing the Macro Pool: Turning Undergraduates On to Macro Practice

Abstract

The problem of the diminishing applicant pool for macro practice tracks in graduate schools of social work is discussed. Four courses developed in the undergraduate program at Elizabethtown Coll (Pa) that utilize a generalist model within a systems framework & expose students to macro practice experiences across the curriculum are described. Recommendations are made for ways in which macro faculty in graduate programs can enhance the linkage with undergraduate programs to counter the diminishing student population.
