Enhancing Legitimacy of Social Work Administration

Abstract

An analysis of whether social work administration has achieved legitimation, social sanction, & support. Included are: (1) a definition of legitimation; (2) a brief history of social work administration in terms of societal support & sanction; (3) an analysis of the reasons why full legitimacy has not been achieved; & (4) strategies for enhancing legitimacy. Examples are provided of how the School of Social Work at Rutgers U, NJ, achieved legitimacy through community support & sanction. 16 References. HA
