Administration content for all social work graduate students

Abstract

Although only about 5 percent of those who obtain a master's of social work degree major in administration, more than 50 percent become administrators. Educators, practitioners, and community leaders are recognizing that more content in administration needs to be offered in schools of social work, encompassing administrative knowledge, attitudes, and skills. A model curriculum for a graduate school of social work that requires two courses for all first-year students illustrates one pattern for bringing about more competent social work administrators.
