A contingency model of social welfare administration

Abstract

A contingency model of social welfare administration is developed as a framework for defining and categorizing the knowledge and skills required to manage effectively a social welfare organization. The model is presented as a systematically assembled mosaic of theories suggested by the major writers of organization literature over the past sixty years. In addition to serving as a framework for definition and classification of knowledge and skills, other specific advantages are identified for applying the contingency model to social welfare administrations.
