Organizational and community change through participatory action research

Abstract

This study reports on two projects concerned with empowerment and improvement in the well-being of poor, disadvantaged families, especially women and children, in Bolivia and the United States. The projects involved participatory action research and demonstrated that this method of research can be used effectively as an empowerment strategy with people who perceive themselves as powerless.
