Correlates of job satisfaction among human service workers.

Abstract

In a study of job satisfaction among 2,521 workers in a public assistance agency, workers reported high levels of job dissatisfaction, which were significantly related to absenteeism and job turnover. The study also showed that different factors predict job satisfaction for five separate employee groups. It is argued that interventions to improve satisfaction among workers should be targeted to specific workers and should involve multiple approaches.
