A Competency-Based Method for Providing Worker Feedback to CPS Supervisors

Abstract

Describes a new instrument designed to allow child protective services (CPS) supervisors to receive feedback from workers on specific competencies vs global performance. The instrument grew out of questionnaire data from 6 focus groups (N = 17 workers & 6 supervisors) addressing factors most critical to supervisor performance. Administration of the instrument to 114 CPS workers in St. Louis County, MO, is described in terms of self- vs worker supervisor evaluation & pre- & posttest supervisor attitude assessments regarding the process. 3 Tables, 2 Figures, 11 References.
