Corrective action: enhancing performance through error reduction.

Abstract

The author discusses "corrective action," defined as the cybernetic utilization of feedback information for the enhancement of performance through the reduction of errors and deficiencies. With the increasing demand for accountability, there has been a proliferation and greater systematization of corrective activities in a range of human service organization, beyond economic assistance operations, as part of broader quality assurance efforts. The author cites the main sources for feedback information and discusses how the findings from each of these sources can be used for corrective action at the case level and for prevention and correction at the program and agency level.
