Computerized information systems: a practice orientation.

Abstract

Austere funding, demands for monitoring and evaluation of service programs, and the need for information to inform decision making have led human service agencies to establish computerized information systems. The service orientation of these agencies requires that information systems be developed and operated from a practice perspective, with consideration of the ethics and values underlying the provision of services. Case studies of the development of information systems in two county agencies illustrate the application of this perspective. (Journal abstract, edited.)
